Mission

Since 2015 GISTUDIO creates, designs and manufactures limited edition lamps and furniture also made to order.

Light, objects and their details, become an expression of a continuous movement between past and present. It is the search and discovery of things from the past to filter them through the lens of contemporaneity that unites the language of each piece

The objects and collections are numbered, punched and signed by the artist.

Isabella Garbagnati is an Italian-born designer who lives and works between Milan and Paris. After receiving a degree as an architect at Politecnico in Milan she worked with several interior design and decorating firms in Paris (2010-1017). She worked for Jean Nouvel's atelier at the project of interior for Louvre Abu Dhabi, Carbondale studio and she created a collection for Florence Lopez. Her concept straddles a fine line between architecture and design, finding a flawless balance between solid matter and light. Her works blend the craftsman’s painstaking attention to detail with the artist’s unerring instinct, forming timeless lamps made out of precious and often timeworn materials.

Always attracted by materials, one day Isabella experienced a jolt that set her on an exciting new path: her gaze was drawn to a 1920s lamp by the French designer Jacques Le Chevallier in a gallery on rue de Seine, and she decided to reproduce it. Then came the serendipitous discovery of an archive of long-forgotten materials in the 3rd Arrondissement: old resins, leftover polymers and much more. A storehouse chock-full of materials that were gathering dust, including translucent fibreglass sheeting oxidised by the passing of time. Isabella ingeniously gave these materials a new lease of life... Her research and painstaking attention to detail are the mainstays, the very foundations underpinning her designs.

She has participated in 3 editions of the salone del mobile presenting her collections selected by galleries and collectors.

Isabella was part of several events organized by Dimoregallery in Milan and London during LDF with Mint gallery.
